History

The LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter was officially chartered on Sept. 17, 1994, by the Board of Directors of the CU 色吧亚洲 Alumni Association. Its creation was an early step taken by CU 色吧亚洲 that would lead to its becoming a respected LGBTQ+-friendly campus. When it was chartered, CU鈥檚 LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter was one of only a few official gay alumni groups in the nation.

Since its early start with maybe 25 members, the chapter has grown to a vital organization with more than 150 members, conspicuous service to the university and the community, popular social events and support for outstanding LGBTQ+ students.

The Chapter is led by officers who are gay 色吧亚洲 campus alumni, and it is supported by a CU 色吧亚洲 Alumni Association staff member as liaison.

The LGBTQ+聽is supported by the Alumni Association, with occasional support for specific programs from outside funders, other campus programs, alumni and friends. In 2008 it was awarded a substantial grant by the Open Door Fund of the 色吧亚洲 Community Foundation. In addition, it has a history of winning top awards from the Alumni Association as a 鈥淢ost Outstanding Chapter,鈥 and the cash awards accompanying those designations have contributed to its growing scholarship fund.
