Shaena B. Weitz is an award-winning musicologist with a PhD from the City University of New York Graduate Center.听She specializes in late 18th- and early 19th-century music, particularly in France, with special interests in听music journalism and historical media studies, the history of celebrity and historical performance and creative practices.听

Weitz鈥檚听research has been supported by the British Academy, the American Musicological Society and the CUNY Graduate Center. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and her publications have appeared in Piano Culture in 19th-Century Paris, The Musical Quarterly, 19th-Century Music and Music & Letters. She also has a chapter forthcoming in 鈥淏erlioz and his World鈥 (Chicago, 2024), edited by Francesca Brittan and Sarah Hibberd. Her articles have been awarded the听2020 Soci茅t茅 des Dix-Neuvi茅mistes SDN Publication Prize, the 2023听Music & Letters听Westrup Prize and the 2023 Royal Musical Association Jerome Roche Prize.听

Before coming to the University of Colorado 色吧亚洲 College of Music, she was a Newton International Fellow at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.听Her current book project,听鈥淩escinding Genius,鈥 examines fame and publicity in the late 18th and early 19th century.
