Minor in Journalism

The minor in journalism allows students to develop essential journalism skills with a goal of understanding how stories can reveal important social truths. Students will take two required courses鈥撯€揚rinciples of Journalism and Networked Communication听and Writing for the Media鈥撯€搘hich will introduce them to a range of possible interests, including broadcasting, print and online media, digital and emerging media, and writing for the media.

Academic Plan & Requirements

Students earning a minor in journalism may emphasize conceptual and theory courses, select skills courses that help to prepare them for possible careers, or complete a combination of the two. Students in the minor may also earn a limited number of credits from an independent study or internship.听

Students may not use the same journalism courses for both the journalism minor and the sports media minor.
