The CU É«°ÉÑÇÖÞ Department of English houses facultyÌýworking inÌýevery major fieldÌýof English and American literature, and, in many cases, developing fields of inquiry. From Anglo-Saxon literature to digital media studies, from the earliest English novels to contemporary graphic works, faculty and students work to improve our understanding of the English language’s cultural and literaryÌýhistory.

English supportsÌýseveral scholarly and creative journals (,Ìý,ÌýSubito Press, andÌý),Ìýsponsors numerous lectures and readings from visiting scholars and writers each year, and actively collaborates with various centers across campus (Center for British and Irish Studies,Ìý,Ìý,ÌýandÌýCenter for Humanities and the Arts, to name only a few).

In addition, English is home to the newÌý (RAP Lab) and theÌý, both venues that support new teaching and research in the humanities.

Each year, theÌýCreative Writing Reading SeriesÌýbrings innovative writers to the University of Colorado for a free, on-campus reading. Past readers include National Book Award winner Terrance Hayes, Susan Steinberg, CAConrad, Ronaldo Wilson, Brian Evenson, Lynne Tillman, Claudia Rankine, M. NourbeSe Philip, and Pulitzer Prize winner Rae Armantrout.ÌýPlease visit theÌýevents calendarÌýfor reading locations, dates, and times!
